Bonddad is alive and well

New Deal democrat here, pinch-hitting for Bonddad with a note he asked me to pass on to all of you:

I am fine. So is my wife and our dogs. The house took surprising little damage. The entire city is without power and will be for the next few days (at least). Centerpoint energy is anticipating a 2-3 week time until everyone has power. The city fared pretty well, considering....

Our neighborhood - which is lined by old trees -- had surprising little home damage. The street is littered with branches etc.... but almost every window is intact. There is only one house that we saw which was damaged by a direct tree strike.

Bonddad expects to be back and posting on Tuesday.

In the meantime, so long as I got the keys to the place, let me go root around the bond-fridge ....

Glad to hear everything's OK. Ike was supposed to pass right over us in Lavaca County, but then moved east, just like Rita. My sister's in Houston, too, and without power. I'm glad I live out in the country!

Glad to hear that all members of the bonddad clan are doing well.

Looking forward to your comments on Hurricane Lehman. Not looking forward to this week on the Street, however.

Best to you all.

Hi Bonddad:

I'm an idiot. I completely forgot that you live in Ike's path. When I didn't see any posts from you on DKos about the current Lehman and Merrill fiasco, I started to worry. That's when I checked the Bonddad blog. What a horrible week. Anyway, once you folks have dug yourself out and figured out how you are going to cope without electricity, I look forward to you posting here and on DKos again. Why does our government keep telling us that the economy's "...fundamentals are strong...", while stuff like this keeps happening. Behr Sterns, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, Country Wide, Citibank, Lehman, Merrill... They and others have failed, are are circling the drain, or are "grey in the gills". What the hell is going on? How much worse is it going to get? Even if Obama is elected, how's he going to dig us out of all of this? I need a drink!

Take care of yourselves! Let's pray that Ike doesn't have any other relatives!

Had my brother out there in Houston. So this is more personal to me than some. Hang in there bonddad. Ike was nasty looking. Here's to hoping it's bark is a lot worse than its bite.

Hurricane Lehmann? That's yesterday's news. It's Hurricane AIG and it looks a lot bigger.
